The Do's and Don’ts of Facebook Advertising

Facebook advertising is a great space to develop a wider audience and promote your brand. However, with the amount of competitors also attempting the same thing, it is important to stay ahead of the game. Here are some Do’s and Don’ts to ensure you are on the right track.

Do try different things! Most of the pros trial various designs and styles of adverts until they settle on the best! Test everything before you commit, so you can be certain you will get the most out of your advert. Play with different images and rewrite your content until you’ve got it down perfect!

Don’t forget who you’re targeting. When creating your ad content, don’t forget about your audience. Without them in mind, you are unlikely to create anything that they will actually respond to. Think about your target demographic and act accordingly. Both your written and visual content should speak directly to them, to maximise your results.

Do carefully consider visual content. The images you use in your ad, is possibly its most important element. It is often the first thing a reader sees, so it is important to grab their attention immediately. Pick an image that is interesting and reflects your brand. It should be easy to interpret and effective enough for your audience to stop and fully check out.

Don’t flood your readers with info. While many advertising platforms work well with complex and super creative strategies, Facebook tends to work best with simplicity. An overcomplicated message will cause your audience to keep scrolling and your engagement rate won’t be as high as you desire. Ask yourself what message you want to send out and keep that in the foreground of the advertisement.

Do use a clear CTA. What do you want to achieve with your ad? What do you want the reader to actually do? A clear CTA (call to action), explains the purpose of your ad to your audience and shows them the route they should take. Get straight to the point!

Do proofread! Taking the time to re-read your copy can save your whole campaign! Typos and mis-spelling seems unprofessional and it can easily ruin your overall message. It would be a shame to allow a simple accident to overpower your advertisement, so make sure you take the extra couple of minutes
